Textile Screen Printing Workshop — Production, Craft & Design Foundations
Serigraphy, Print Production & Visual Systems

Overview
In 1984, I founded my first textile screen printing workshop, marking the beginning of my professional path in graphic arts.
From the outset, this experience combined hands-on production, technical training, and design exploration.
As a result, it established the foundation for a multidisciplinary career that later expanded into digital media, industrial design, and systems thinking.
Technical Training & Craft Development
My formation in screen printing was shaped through both formal and informal learning environments. In particular, I developed strong technical skills through:
• Training in B&W and color photomechanics at Agfa Argentina laboratories
• Continuous knowledge exchange with experienced printmakers
• Direct exposure to professional production workflows, materials, and processes
Additionally, I observed artistic screen printing techniques in specialized workshops. Consequently, this broadened my understanding of fine art print production for exhibitions and high-quality graphic applications..
Design Education Context
At the same time, my technical background was complemented by formal education in design. I studied under Nicolás Jiménez, a pioneer in design education in Argentina and founder of the Industrial and Graphic Design programs in Mar del Plata.
Therefore, this integration of design thinking and production knowledge became a defining element of my professional approach, allowing me to bridge conceptual design with real-world execution.
Production & Clients
The workshop operated as a versatile production space, serving a wide range of clients and applications. Over time, projects included:
• Textile printing for brands and organizations
• Large-format graphic production
• Custom print runs and visual identity systems
Among the selected clients:
• CCTV
• Asociación Amigos del Museo
• Rip Curl Mar del Plata
• Billy Graham Association
Large-Scale Production
One of the most significant projects involved large-scale production for a major event. Specifically, this included:
• 1,250 screen-printed flags (1 × 2 meters, two colors)
• Deployed during a large-scale event at River Plate Stadium (1991)
This project, in turn, required precise coordination, production consistency, and strict timing. As a result, it strengthened my expertise in industrial-scale print processes.
Design & Production Philosophy
Beyond technical execution, screen printing played a key role in shaping my design philosophy. In particular, it provided a deep understanding of:
• Materials and processes
• Color behavior in real-world applications
• Scalability of graphic systems
• The relationship between design and physical output
Moreover, this experience reinforced a practical, system-oriented approach to design.
Ongoing Practice
Screen printing continues to be an active part of my work. On one hand, I apply it in professional projects; on the other, I revisit it as a medium for personal exploration and experimentation.
